Texas country favorite Wade Bowen will hit the Joe's Pub stage at 7:30pm tonight, August 22, to celebrate his major-label debut and his transition from regional success to national prominence.

Bowen launched his career at Stubb's Barbecue in Lubbock, Texas and quickly went from collegiate greenhorn favorite to the top of the Texas music and Red Dirt circuit. Now, Wade tours nationally, 200-plus nights a year. Born in Waco, for Wade, George Strait was king. At school in Lubbock, he discovered the full spectrum of Texas artistry, starting with Robert Earl Keen. The opening track of his 2006 album Lost Hotel reached No. 1 on the bellwether Texas Music Chart. Bowen has had six chart-toppers and three top five singles.

His new album The Given documents Bowen's artistic evolution and includes signature ballads and honky tonks. The opening track on The Given, "Saturday Night," showcases the internal monologue of a lonesome hombre sitting on his stool, nursing his drink and thinking about "that sad goodbye." Its chiming descending guitar riff will be the first thing many audiences hear from Wade, his calling card.

On The Given, newcomers will hear a head-turning country artist with range, road-tested hits and one of the best male voices in the business. Wade's baritone is dense and concentrated, with traces of whisky and smoke and warmth. The sound is one hundred percent country, rife with pedal steel and vivid emotion.
