What Will The Neighbors Say? is excited to announce that it is teaming up with Club Cumming , the fantasy-performance salon owned by Alan Cumming and Daniel Nardicio to produce "WWTNS? Presents Cumming for Puerto Rico." This event, a fundraiser to support the relief efforts in Puerto Rico after the devastation of Hurricanes Maria and Irma, will be a rowdy evening of performance, dance, music, drag and storytelling that reflects the vibrancy, energy, culture and beauty of the island and its people.
The trauma in Puerto Rico is a cause close to the core of WWTNS- Co-Artistic Director Jorge Morales Pico grew up on the island, as did our resident photographer Pablo Calderon-Santiago . As a team we closely followed the developments over these past weeks, and felt increasing dismay at the ineffectual and often callous response of the federal government; we felt compelled to help in any way we could. In keeping with the WWTNS? mission, we realised a central element of the story of Puerto Rico was being ignored in this time of disaster - the spirit and strength of its people. We wanted to tell a story of reconstruction rather than destruction; of survival rather than defeat. With "WWTNS? Presents Cumming for Puerto Rico," the company aims to pay tribute to the people - their dignity and their resolve - and also to raise funds to aid the relief efforts.
Club Cumming, with its reputation for inclusivity and community as well as glamour and exoticism, was the ideal venue to pair with WWTNS? for this fundraiser. Patrons will experience a raunchy and irreverent artistic love letter to the island featuring a range of performers, to be announced in the coming days, while enjoying the style and ambience of Club Cumming . Ticketing information will follow in the coming days.
