WNBC News Features MATILDA THE MUSICAL Tomorrow

MATILDA THE MUSICAL will be featured on WNBC TV's "News 4 New York at 5" tomorrow Friday May 24 when the four girls who share the title role (Sophia Gennusa, Oona Laurence, Bailey Ryon and Milly Shapiro) speak to Erika Tarantal about making their Broadway debut in the blockbuster show. News 4 New York at 5 airs on Channel 4 in the New York metropolitan area. The feature will be rebroadcast over the weekend and be available online.

MATILDA THE MUSICAL opened to rapturous reviews last month and has received 12 Tony Award nominations including one for Best Musical; each of the four girls will receive a Tony Honor for Excellence in the Theater. MATILDA THE MUSICAL is also the recipient of five Drama Desk Awards including Best Musical and the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Musical.

Produced by The Royal Shakespeare Company and The Dodgers, MATILDA THE MUSICAL is directed by Tony Award winner Matthew Warchus (God of Carnage), who helms this exhilarating and ingenious production with a book by playwright Dennis Kelly and music and lyrics by Australian comedian, musician and composer Tim Minchin.

The production has sets and costumes by Rob Howell, with choreography by Peter Darling, orchestrations, additional music and musical supervision by Christopher Nightingale, lighting by Hugh Vanstone, and sound by Simon Baker.
