WHITE WAVE Presents the 2017 SoloDuo Dance Festival at Dixon Place

WHITE WAVE presents the 2nd Annual SoloDuo Dance Festival, featuring 24 national and international dancemakers, carefully selected by a panel of NYC's foremost Dance artists, teachers, and producers. The program celebrates the unique art of creating Solos and Duets, a format often favored by early-stage choreographers as their company begins to find its path within the Dance world. The line-up this year includes the work of both nascent and seasoned artists.

WHITE WAVE's mission is to act as a potent stimulus to expand the horizons of Dance by producing dance concerts, Festivals, residencies, and educational activities. WHITE WAVE provides dancemakers an opportunity to congregate, create, and present new works on prestigious stages to the discerning NYC audience. Dixon Place's intimate stage is particularly well-suited to showcase the artistry of Solo and Duet performance.

"iyouuswe" (I-You-Us-We) was conceived from an exciting collaboration between WHITE WAVE's artistic director, Young Soon Kim and our nine dazzling dancers over the past 12 months. The piece - exhilarating, piercing, yet subtle -- scored to original music by longtime collaborator Ki Young, a "borderless musician," is an uninterrupted 65-minute journey that will challenge us to examine who we are and how we relate to ourselves, and to each other. It is a story about developing meaningful relationships in which we struggle to pursue a sense of 'i' as part of a 'we.'

Expressly created for the dancers: Anton Martynov, Guanglei Hui, Cara Seymour, Tsai Hsi Hung, Mikelle Rindflish, Mark Willis, Casey LaVres, James Johnson, Juhwan Hwang, "ioyuuswe" will take their creative energies to new heights, transforming "iyouuswe" into a multi-dimensional 'tour-de-force.
