This fall the award-winning Strike a Chord campaign of New York public radio station WFUV (90.7 FM/wfuv.org) turns its attention to veterans returning home. In addition to public service announcements spotlighting organizations that help vets readjust to life on the home front, the campaign will include a news series and special public affairs program.
The news series will run the week of October 31st at 7:54 a.m. and 3:54 p.m. and feature a wide range of stories, including one about how shelter dogs are helping to heal the emotional wounds of military veterans, and another about a vet who turned his experiences in the military into a business venture - an exercise bootcamp. The series will culminate with a special panel discussion broadcast on WFUV on Sunday, November 6th at 6:30 am. The program will also air on BronxNet Television during the month of November.
"Transitioning back to civilian life can be a real challenge for veterans, whether it be finding a job or a place to live," WFUV News & Public Affairs Director George Bodarky said. "We're pleased to be spotlighting these issues in an effort to help smooth out that transition for the men and women who've selflessly and bravely served our country."
