Iconoclastic choreographer Kathy Westwater builds an intimate and interior-reaching solo for former NYCB star Wendy Whelan, performed on this program. The two explore the development of the solo, a dance portrait entitled Sophie, discuss their childhood friendship and their divergent artistic paths. They come together in dance for the first time since the 1980s.

METHODS IN DANCE/MOVEMENT THERAPY I
Sessions Start: Thu, Sep 28, 6-8 pm, 15 sessions from $550
This course is an introduction to the basic principles, techniques and methods of dance/movement therapy. Topics include symbolic aspects of the body, the physiological basis of emotion, movement from a developmental perspective, systematic movement observation, cultural differences in movement behavior and the relation of these to dance. Movement experiences are derived from the abstraction of basic DMT processes. Note: This course is fully approved by the ADTA for Alternate Route credit for R-DMT training.
