Good morning, BroadwayWorld! Because we know all our readers eat, sleep and breathe Broadway, what could be better than waking up to it? For your most important theatre meal of the day, we've rounded up the big news you missed yesterday, what's on the agenda today, and a few extras to start your day off right.
The Bacon: See what's on the griddle today...
I CAN'T SING: THE X FACTOR MUSICAL opens tonight in the West End! We'll have to see what the judges -- cough, critics -- thought of this musical incarnation of the reality show...
HELLMAN V. MCCARTHY, in which Dick Cavett plays himself, makes its World Premiere at Abingdon tonight.
Cup of Joe: Perk up and revisit yesterday's big stories...
Broadway Weather Forecast: Windy with a high of 37, plus snow showers on and off in the early morning (boo!). But look for sunshine later on!
Quote of the Day: Do you agree? Should theatre always be a reflection of the present?
"A theatre, a literature, an artistic expression that does not speak for its own time has no relevance."
-- Dario Fo (via BrainyQuote)
What's just around the corner: Tony-winner for ANYTHING GOES and THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE, Sutton Foster returns to Broadway in VIOLET, beginning previews this Friday. She's an even better reason to make it past the hump this week.
Video of the Day: In honor of I CAN'T SING's opening in the West End, watch this X FACTOR montage celebrating the show's 10th anniversary!
And finally, Happy Birthday to Jonathan Groff, who turns 29 today! Groff, who will be announcing this year's Tony Award nominations next month, recently voiced the character 'Kristoff' in Disney's animated hit FROZEN. He will soon be seen in a new adaptation of THE NORMAL HEART from Larry Kramer and Ryan Murphy on HBO this May and also stars in the TV series LOOKING. He has appeared on Broadway in SPRING AWAKENING (for which he was nominated for a Tony in 2007), as well as 2005's IN MY LIFE.
See you bright and early tomorrow, BroadwayWorld!
