Good morning, BroadwayWorld! Because we know all our readers eat, sleep and breathe Broadway, what could be better than waking up to it? For your most important theatre meal of the day, we've rounded up the big news you missed yesterday, what's on the agenda today, and a few extras to start your day off right.
The Bacon: See what's on the griddle today...
Cup of Joe: Perk up and revisit Friday, Saturday and Sunday's big stories...
Broadway Weather Forecast: The rain in Spain stays mainly in the plain... High of 50 with afternoon rain showers.
Quote of the Day: Stage acting has no expiration date...
"If you're sixty-something, pushing 70, the chances of you getting a tremendously fascinating part in the movies are very low, as to be almost negligible, or even in television. But in the theatre, there are still things to do, very interesting, very profound things."
-- Brian Dennehy (via BrainyQuote)
What we're watching (over and over!): Anna Kendrick's Disney princess extravaganza from this weekend's Saturday Night Live. She hosted the crap out of that episode, people, and we loved every minute of it!
Video of the Day: Stephen Sondheim takes a moment to comment on the genius of orchestrator Jonathan Tunick, who will be honored at Signature Theatre's gala tonight!
And finally, a Happy Birthday shout-out to Russell Crowe, who hits the big 5-0 today! The Oscar-winning movie actor hasn't taken his talents to the stage (yet), but he has tackled the big-screen musical as 'Javert' in Tom Hooper's 2012 film adaptation of LES MISERABLES. He can currently be seen on the silver screen in Noah. Among Crowe's major film credits are The Insider, Gladiator, A Beautiful Mind, Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World, Cinderella Man, American Gangster, State of Play and more.
See you bright and early tomorrow, BroadwayWorld!
