And a Happy Birthday shout-out to Maggie Smith, who turns 81 today!

Dame Maggie Smith was last seen on Broadway in LETTICE AND LOVAGE, which won her a Tony Award in 1990. Before that, she starred in NIGHT AND DAY, PRIVATE LIVES and NEW FACES OF 1956. For her work on the London stage, she was won five Best Actress Evening Standard Awards for THE PRIVATE EAR AND THE PUBLIC EYE, HEDDA GABLER, VIRGINIA, THE WAY OF THE WORLD and THREE TALL WOMEN. The actress has also appeared in the West End in A DELICATE BALANCE and THE BREATH OF LIFE, and in Stratford Shakespeare Festival's ANTONY AND CLEOPATRA and MACBETH. Among her more than 50 film credits are her Oscar-nominated roles in OTHELLO, TRAVELS WITH MY AUNT, A ROOM WITH A VIEW and GOSFORD PARK, her Oscar-winning turns in THE PRIME OF MISS JEAN BRODIE and CALIFORNIA SUITE. More recently, she has starred on the silver screen in SISTER ACT, THE FIRST WIVES CLUB, THE BEST EXOTIC MARIGOLD HOTEL, the HARRY POTTER series, and in the TV drama DOWNTON ABBEY. This year, she played 'Miss Mary Shepherd' in THE LADY IN THE VAN.
