The Off-Broadway production of The Voyage of the Carcass will close on Sunday, November 5. The limited engagement production began previews on Wednesday, October 4 and opened on Monday, October 16.
"In a final effort to save their marriage, a couple attempts to reignite their youthful ambition by renting a theater and creating a play with an old college friend. That play—a wild Arctic farce set on the SS Carcass—sails them directly into uncharted waters," state notes.
"Weaving Commedia Dell'arte with Theatre Verite,
The Voyage of the Carcass is a touching and hilarious play-within-a-play about people's dreams, both failed and realized."
Starring 2005 Tony Award-winner
Dan Fogler (
Spelling Bee), the play is the inaugural production of Stage 13, a new theater company committed to creating new work for the American theater.
"Part of the mission of Stage 13 is to create new productions that are relentlessly athletic, eminently ambitious and, ultimately, deeply human," said producer Thomas Sullivan. "We are proud that we achieved that with our maiden voyage, and thank everyone involved for being a part of it."
