Carnegie Hall has announced that Vilde Frang has agreed to step in for Hilary Hahn as soloist in Korngold’s Violin Concerto in performances with the Berliner Philharmoniker led by Chief Conductor Kirill Petrenko on Sunday, November 17 at 2:00 p.m. and Tuesday, November 19 at 8:00 p.m.

Ms. Hahn has withdrawn from all concerts through the end of November on the advice from her medical team to abstain from strenuous performance and travel as she continues to recover from a double pinched nerve. The remainder of the program on both evenings remains unchanged and includes Rachmaninoff’s The Isle of the Dead and Dvořák’s Symphony No. 7. In addition, Mr. Petrenko and the orchestra appear at Carnegie Hall on Monday, November 18 at 8:00 p.m. performing Bruckner’s Symphony No. 5.

Of the cancellation, Hahn said, “I am extremely disappointed not to be touring with the Berliner Philharmoniker. Unfortunately, healing follows its own timeline, and I have to respect that if I want to be able to play far into the future. I hope to be on the road again very soon, and I deeply appreciate all the support I’ve received during this process. To my colleagues and concertgoers, I am so sorry that I can’t be there with you!”

Vilde Frang made her Carnegie Hall debut in 2008 with the Camerata Salzburg, led by Anne-Sophie Mutter, joining Ms. Mutter for Bach’s Concerto for Two Violins in D Minor, BWV 1043. She returned in 2016 for a recital in Weill Recital Hall with pianist Michail Lifits.
