"Pride Mix" by the Village Playwrights will include seven new and eclectic short plays to celebrate Gay Pride.  "Pride Mix" will be presented at the Wings Theater, 154 Christopher Street, New York City at 8 PM on Tuesday, June 26 and Wednesday, June 27.

The plays include:

"It's last call in Emanuel Gavales' Tread Lightly and Roger wants to take Miles home.  He may not be able to find the right pick-up line but that doesn't keep him from trying," state press notes.

Frankie & Johnnie by Morna Murphy Martell, "takes place on a hot summer night in NYC.  Lesbians Frankie and Joanne are lovers but, while Frankie has made a total commitment, Joanne has decided she needs to be free to spend a weekend away - with a man.  Just like in the song, 'She was doin' her wrong!'

In  Kevin Berry's Eight, "Joe and Jim argue like other brothers. But when Jim buys his eight-year old nephew a birthday present, Joe's reaction exposes his deep feelings about his younger brother homosexuality. But does the conflict go beyond love?"

The collison between two current military policies "Stop Loss" and "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" is the subject of George Bistransin's play Stop Loss. "When a stop lossed lieutenant learns that another soldier, suspected as gay,  is the victim of a Blanket Party, he decides to use whatever means possible to get home."

In Holy Water, a controversial dark comedy by Vincent Caruso, "a priest challenges the moral ethics of a former nun who has made a drastic career change."

"Rooms" by Bob Quinn is "a haunting story of two men who meet at an unusual beach resort that becomes a vacation in Hell."

In Lawrence F. Schwabacher's farcical Mixed Signals, "Ian's and Kellly's wedding plans are set aside when Dawn, on the make for Kelly, gets Ian's attention instead."

The Village Playwrights have a long presence at the LGBT Center (208 W. 13th St) and meet there every second and fourth Wednesday at 8 pm.   Participation is open to all playwrights and screenwriters.

Tickets are $10. For reservations or information call 718-381-1487 or e-mail Ludicrum@yahoo.com
