Village People Cowboy Set To Star In SODOM: THE MUSICAL Opening November 4

Handwritten Theatre Company presents the World Premiere of SODOM: THE MUSICAL. This new musical comedy about the last days of Sodom and Gomorrah features book & lyrics by  Kevin Laub and music by Adam David Cohen. The production is directed by Ben Rimalower (Off-Broadway's Joy) with music direction by Marcus Baker, choreography by James DeForte, scenic design by Jason Courson, and lighting design by Shane Mongar. Performances begin November 4th at The Kraine Theater with opening night set for November 8th.

SODOM: THE MUSICAL recounts the last days of the original "Sin City."  When God is hell-bent on destroying Sodom, optimistic Abraham sets off to prove the Big Guy wrong by finding ten honest Sodomites.  But will he find them in time?

The cast stars Jonathan Kaplan (Tony Award nominee and Theater World Award winner for Falsettos) as Lot, Randy Jones (best known as the cowboy from The Village People) as God, Brian Munn, Blythe Gruda, Amy Barker, Stanley Bahorek, Matt Owen, David Abeles, Jake Manabat, Ryan Kelly, Stephanie Kovacs, Patrick Gallagher and Galit Sperling.

Handwritten Theatre Company develops innovative and experimental musical theatre created to provoke discussion as well as to entertain. The company works with artists that write for themselves, thereby creating art to be shared with others. Their inaugural production was The Apple and Other Slip-Ups, presented in July at Rose's Turn.

SODOM: THE MUSICAL runs November 4 - December 3 on the following schedule:  Tuesdays at 8pm, Fridays and Saturdays at 10:30pm (Please note: there is no performance on 11/29). The Kraine Theater is located at 85 East 4th Street (between 2nd Avenue and Bowery -- accessible from the F train at 2nd Avenue or the 6 train at Astor Place).
