Broadway headliner and rising film and TV star Mackenzie Mauzy was one of many young performers to audition for the hotly contested role of Cosette in the big screen adaptation of mega-musical stage sensation LES MISERABLES and a filmed audition featuring the leading lady is now available to view, highlighting an emotional and committed portrayal of one of the central figures in the expansive story based on Victor Hugo's classic novel.
In the first clip, Mauzy gives voice to the passionate and evocative "In My Life" from Claude-Michel Schonberg and Alain Boublil's celebrated score.
Additionally, Mauzy offers a lilting soprano with her sweetly sung "A Heart Full Of Love", as well.
While Amanda Seyfried eventually landed the role in the final film directed by Tom Hooper and released last year, this recognizable presence from NEXT TO NORMAL and GIANT certainly gives great gravitas to these memorable musical moments from a show adored by millions around the world.
Of course, you can catch Mackenzie Mauzy in next year's big screen movie musical event, Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's INTO THE WOODS, also starring Meryl Streep and Johnny Depp, directed by Rob Marshall.
