THE NEW YORK MUSICAL THEATRE FESTIVAL (http://www.nymf.org) presents a reading of BUMP IN THE ROAD, a new musical with book, music and lyrics by CAROLE LONNER, on Thursday, September 29th at 3 and 7 PM at Makor, 35 West 67th Street, between Central Park West and Columbus Avenue. Tickets are free, with seating on a first-come, first-served basis. Reservations are available to NYMF passholders – further details are available on http://www.theatermania.com.

Directed by Michael Cassara, the reading stars Tony-nominee Martin Vidnovic (Oklahoma!, Baby, The King And I), DENNIS HOLLAND (The Music Man), MARY JO MCCONNELL (Beauty And The Beast, The Phantom Of The Opera), AMY MONTGOMERY (Milwaukee Rep., Chicago Shakes), Mary Mossberg (Caligula, Paper Mill’s The Baker’s Wife), BRIAN MUNN (Dorian Gray: The Musical, Once Upon A Time In New Jersey), and MELANIE VAUGHAN (Sunday In The Park With George, Parade, Imaginary Friends). Musical direction is by RICK HIP-FLORES (who most recently served as the bandleader for the world premiere of the new Neil Sedaka musical, Breaking Up Is Hard To Do.)

BUMP IN THE ROAD is the story of four baby boomers, “about to take the ride of their lives”. As they greet love, loss, rebirth and renewal – they discover that sometimes it’s the bumps along the way that lead life’s passengers to their greatest joys. Carole Lonner’s tuneful score draws from a rich tapestry of musical theatre, jazz, and folk influences. Her first musical COMIN’ OF AGE was produced at the Attic, an Equity theatre in Detroit. BUMP IN THE ROAD marks the first New York staging of Ms. Lonner’s theatrical work. She has also recently completed her first children’s book, What's All This Kissing Stuff?
