On Friday, The Today Show visited The Wiz on Broadway for a special behind-the-scenes look at the revival of the classic musical.

In the interview, Wayne Brady, who plays The Wiz, talked about the formative experience of watching the 1978 film with Michael Jackson and Diana Ross. "It made it more personal...they look like me. Maybe I can do that."

Nichelle Lewis is making her Broadway debut in the production and recalls the creative team finding her through TikTok. "I was working at Crate and Barrel and I was wedding singing," the actress shares.

During that time, she decided to put herself out there on social media, adding that "it's all led to this moment."

In the segment, the cast and crew went on to talk about some of the iconic sets and costumes, including Glinda's gold gown, and how the show continues to resonate.
