Machiavelli, a new play by Richard Vetere, will be presented at Manhattan Theatre Source beginning on January 12th. The limited engagement will run through February 4th.

Directed by Andrew Frank, the play stars Liza Vann and James Wetzel, while Jason Howard, Stephanie Jannsen, Chip Phillips, and Lex Woutas are also featured.

The play, "written in a comedia style which mirrors Niccolo Machiavelli's own famous satire The Mandrake, tells the story of how the world's most famous political thinker used his genius to survive and outsmart the ruthless Medici family while bringing democracy to Florence during the Renaissance in the 1500's," according to press notes.

The play will run in repertory with a production of The Mandrake.
Sets and lighting are by Maruti Evans, costumes are by Michael Bevins and Maria Kenny, and sound is by Andrew Bellware.

Vetere is the author of forty plays, including One Shot One Kill, Gangster Apparel, The Engagement, and First Love. His first novel, The Third Miracle, has been made into a feature film.

Manhattan Theatre Source is located at 177 Macdougal Street in Greenwich Village. For tickets and information, call (212) 507-4751. Tickets are $15.
