New Dawn, a new musical with book, music, and lyrics by Aaron Michael Krueger will be a part of the Venus/Adonis Theatre Festival this upcoming January. The show tells the story of Joey Johnson, a high school football captain whose perfect "AllAmerican" life begins to fall apart around him, leaving him to find a way out of the mess his world has become. This high energy coming-of-age musical features an electrifying rock score and a dynamic original book that is sure to move hearts and minds. New dawn was a part of the Midtown International Theatre Festival at the June Havoc Theatre in 2014 where it was nominated for 9 awards and took home 4 (Best Lead Actor in a Musical: Max King; Best Supporting Actor in a Musical: Adam Salazar; Best Book, Music, and Lyrics: Aaron Michael Krueger; and Best Musical). The current production stars Nathan Richardson as Joey Johnson with Maureen Yvette Germain, Maxwell Schuster, Chelsea Moss, Richie Barrella, Kelsey Martin, Paul Mitchell Wilder, Tyler Egan, Jonathan Stevens, Amanda Nicholas, Brian Falduto, Ryan Hestand, and Misy Singson.
AARON MICHAEL KRUEGER (Director/Book, Music, and Lyrics) is an NYC-based writer, composer, and lyricist haling form the good 'ole Midwest. He holds a BA in Theatre/Music from Murray State University. Most recently, he worked on a reading and workshop in October 2015 of Grudgical, a musical parody of the Ju-On and Grudge Japanese horror film franchises with his friend and new writing partner Peej Mele. Earlier this summer, Super! (with book, music, and lyrics by Aaron Michael Krueger) made its world premiere at the Midtown International Theatre Festival at the Davenport Theatre.
