Andrea Alton stars as Molly "Equality" Dykeman in I CAN'T EVEN THINK STRAIGHT: MOLLY "EQUALITY" DYKEMAN'S BIG GAY PRIDE SHOW, premiering in June at the Laurie Beechman Theatre. Molly "Equality" Dykeman is a barely lucid poet/security guard at PS 339 and a lovable train wreck who launched her career to critical acclaim in the 2011 New York International Fringe Festival.
I CAN'T EVEN THINK STRAIGHT: MOLLY "EQUALITY" DYKEMAN'S BIG GAY PRIDE SHOW is poet/security guard Dykeman's first Gay Pride themed variety show -- even if every day is Gay Pride in the Percocet-fogged haze that is Molly's mind! The show includes Molly's home movies; new poetry about vaginas, nachos, and mullets; a guide to making amends to past loves, and Molly's tribute to the many, many ladies she loves.
Each evening also features appearances by The Mollettes (Molly's slutty backup dancer duo comprised of Victoria Smalc & MeLiza Fernandez) and a rotating selection of special guests including Marie Wallace (star of the original Dark Shadows), comic Brad Loekle (VH1, Here TV, Sirius), writer/performer Lea Robinson (Go Magazine's 100 Women We Love 2009), comic Allen Warnock (Hot Gay Comics on Here TV), actress Rebecca Mills, Outmusic Award winner Athena Reich, Latin ACE Award-winning actress Inma Heredia, self-proclaimed lezbologist Ariel Speedwagon, and comic Robin Cloud (Go Magazine's 100 Women We Love 2009),
Andrea Alton has performed all over New York with notable appearances at Gotham Comedy Club, Comix, The PIT, Arlene's Grocery, UCB, The Knitting Factory, and Bowery Poetry Club. She has also performed at the Chicago, DC, San Francisco and Toronto Sketch Comedy Festivals and The Women In Comedy Festival in Boston. Outside of writing and playing Molly, Alton has been seen on New York and regional stages in productions including Big Girl, Little World (FringeNYC), The Strangest Kind Of Romance (Provincetown Tennessee Williams Festival), Labor Day Weekend & The Chiselers (Emerging Artists Theatre), Reckless (Kaleidoscope Theatre) and Carl & Shelly, Best Friends Forever (FringeNYC). She is a member of Emerging Artists & TOSOS Theatre. Alton's film/TV credits include Little Magician 3D, Target Audience (licensed by Showtime), Chappell's Show (Comedy Central) and Girls Behaving Badly. This May, Molly Dykeman made her European premiere at The Dublin International Gay Theatre Festival.
