VIDEO: THE AUDIENCE's Helen Mirren Shares Strong Thoughts on Ageism in Hollywood: 'F**king Outrageous!'

While speaking at The Wrap's Power Woman Breakfast in New York City on Tuesday, recent Tony Award winner Helen Mirren had some strong words to share about rampant ageism in Hollywood.

Asked if she agreed with comments made by 37-year-old actress Maggie Gyllenhaal, who recently revealed she was "too old to play the lover of a man who was 55,", Mirren declared, "F**king outrageous! It's ridiculous," adding, "Honestly, so annoying. So annoying and 'twas ever thus."

The 69-year-old, currently wrapping up her run as Queen Elizabeth in Broadway's The Audience, went on to add, "We all sat there watching James Bond, as James Bond got more and more geriatric, while his girlfriend's got younger and younger. It's so annoying." Watch the clip below!

Mirren won the 2015 Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Play for her role as Queen Elizabeth II in The Audience. The actress has won international recognition for her work on stage, screen and television. For her portrayal of Queen Elizabeth II in The Queen in 2006, she received an Academy Award®, Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Award®, and BAFTA Award for Best Actress. She was also named Best Actress by virtually every critics' organization from Los Angeles to London. In 2014 she was honored with the BAFTA Fellowship for her outstanding career in film. On television she played the title role in "Elizabeth I" for which she won Emmy, Golden Globe and SAG Awards.
