Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre offers a taste of their new revised version of Lerner and Loewe's 1951 musical PAINT YOUR WAGON, about an interracial romance set during the California Gold Rush. While the new version retains the score, which includes the American Songbook standards "I Talk To The Trees" and "The Call The Wind Maria," Jon Marans, 1996 Pulitzer Prize finalist for OLD WICKED SONGS, provides a new book adapted from Lerner's original.
Robert Cuccioli stars as Ben Rumson, an enterprising miner whose teenage daughter falls for a Mexican man who is treated as an outcast because of his race.
PAINT YOUR WAGON is directed by Executive Producer and Artistic Director David Armstrong. Along with Cuccioli, the cast includes Kendra Kassebaum, Justin Gregory Lopez, Eric Ankrim, Kyle Robert Carter, Kirsten deLohr Helland, Steven Eng, Allen Fitzpatrick, Rodney Hicks, Louis Hobson, Mikko Juan and Eli Lotz.
PAINT YOUR WAGON plays June 2-25, 2016 (press opening Thursday, June 9) at The 5th Avenue Theatre (1308 5th Avenue, Seattle). Tickets start at $36 and may be purchased at www.5thavenue.org, by phone at 206-625-1900, or at the Box Office at 1308 5th Avenue, in downtown Seattle.
