Four-time Tony Award nominee Raúl Esparza, last seen on the New York stage in the 2013 Encores! Off-Center revival of THE CRADLE WILL ROCK, took center stage last night at the Democratic National Convention, along with Grammy-nominated Latin music stars La India and Huey Dunbar.
The trio sang Gloria and Emilio Estefan's 'America,' written especially for the 2015 Macy's Fourth of July fireworks display. The lyric expresses love for American through the eyes of its immigrant population and was presented as part of the convention's "Our America" program, celebrating our nation's diversity.
Esparza is known to television viewers as ADA Rafael Barba on NBC's "Law & Order: SVU."
