As BWW reported back in May, composer Andrew Lloyd Webber appeared on The Economist Radio and revealed that Nicole Scherzinger, who starred as Grizabella in the recent West End revival of Cats, had initially signed on for the current Broadway revival but changed her mind just before rehearsals got underway. He explained, "A week before we were going to go into rehearsal with Cats on Broadway, which luckily I'm not producing, she calls me and says she's decided she wants to do X Factor, having agreed everything... I mean, she's crazy."
He went on to reveal that he was not happy with the decision. "I'm furious because I really believe she's the most fantastically talented girl and I went out on a limb to get her for the London Palladium here, and it makes me look like an absolute twat with them all." He added, "But never mind, there'll be another girl on Broadway and Nicole will not get her Tony Award."
Despite the reported "feud" between the duo, several weeks later Scherzinger joined Lord Webber on stage at an event in Austria and performed "Buenos Aires" from his iconic musical EVITA. Scherzinger took to Instagram to share the performance (check out the video!), captioning the post: "Had so much fun being back on stage with Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber in Austria," Nice to see there were no hard feelings between them!
