While promoting his new film HIGH-RISE this week at the 2015 San Sebastian Film Festival, actor Luke Evans spoke with Collider about Disney's highly anticipated live action remake of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST. Watch the interview in full below!
Speaking on the new music which will be featured in the movie, Evans shares, "I'm lucky enough to be one of the first people in the world to hear those two songs, which will become songs that children will sing, adults will sing, people in musicals will end up singing them at some point, they'll become audition piece, they will become part of this amazing legacy of a film we already have, a story that is so ingrained in our - in my childhood memory."
He continues, "These two songs. They're beautiful, they complement everything so well, but they are incredibly unique and different. And the thought and love that has gone into those two songs honor the work of the original so well. It will be a nice thing, especially for the fans, to hear these two new songs on top of what we already have."
Disney's live action BEAUTY AND THE BEAST stars Emma Watson as Belle, Dan Stevens as the Beast/Prince, Luke Evans as the vain villain Gaston and Josh Gad as his sidekick Le Fou. The film marks the return of composer Alan Menken and lyricist Tim Rice, who will provide new songs for the film, which also features songs from the animated classic written by Menken and the late Howard Ashman.
The Bill Condon-helmed project follows the classic French fairy tale of a young woman who takes her father's 'place as a prisoner in a monstrous being's castle, only to fall in love with the creature who turns out to be a prince.
BEAUTY AND THE BEAST is set for release on March 17, 2017.
