Lin-Manuel Miranda's new musical Hamilton began previews at the Richard Rodgers Theatre last night prior to its official opening night of August 6th.
As was announced last week, $10 front row seats for the new musical will go on sale by lottery, beginning two and half hours prior to each performance. Patrons may enter their name at the Richard Rodgers Theatre (226 W. 46 St.) for a chance to buy up to two front row tickets for $10 each. The winner's names will be drawn 2 hours before show time. Entrants must present photo ID, and the winners must pay with cash at the box office.
Last night, Lin-Manuel Miranda himself greeted the crowd of eager lottery participants (704 in total we're told!) who filled 46th Street, all hoping for a chance to see the show's Broadway bow. "So thanks to you we're probably going to be here for a while," Miranda told the adoring crowd. Watch the video!
HAMILTON is inspired by the book Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow and features book, music, and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler and direction by Thomas Kail, who previously collaborated on IN THE HEIGHTS.
