Billy Porter stars in the hottest Broadway show "Kinky Boot" as the electrifying Lola. "CBS This Morning" correspondent Jamie Wax sat down with Porter to discuss his rocky path to his current success. Watch the appearance in full below!

Porter cites his role in the Broadway revival of 'Grease' as the moment he knew he had to walk away from Broadway, despite being at the height of his career. "I wore 14 inches of rubber hair on my head and a spacesuit for a year," the Tony winner says of the role he describes as 'a clown.' "It's the disconnect from the humanity that I had a problem with."

Porter won the 2013 Tony Award for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical for his portrayal of 'Lola' in Kinky Boots. His other Broadway credits include Miss Saigon, Five Guys..., Grease, Smokey Joe's..., Dreamgirls. Off-Broadway/ Regional: Angels In America, Merchant of Venice, Radiant Baby, Birdie Blue, Songs For a New World, Ghetto Superstar (One-Man Show), Topdog/Underdog, King Lear, The Further Adventures of Hedda Gabler. Film/ Television: The Broken Hearts Club, Shake Rattle & Roll, Noel, "Law & Order," "The Big C." Recording: Untitled, At The Corner Of Broadway & Soul.

Kinky Boots, from four-time Tony Award-winner Harvey Fierstein (book), Grammy Award-winning rock icon Cyndi Lauper (Music & Lyrics), Tony Award-winner Jerry Mitchell (Director & Choreographer), began preview performances on Broadway at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre (302 West 45th Street) on March 3, 2013 and opened April 4, 2013.

In Kinky Boots, Charlie Price (Sands) has suddenly inherited his father's shoe factory, which is on the verge of bankruptcy. Trying to live up to his father's legacy and save his family business, Charlie finds inspiration in the form of Lola (Porter). A fabulous entertainer in need of some sturdy stilettos, Lola turns out to be the one person who can help Charlie become the man he's meant to be. As they work to turn the factory around, this unlikely pair finds that they have more in common than they ever dreamed possible... and discovers that when you change your mind about someone, you can change your whole world.
