Jonathan Groff, who provides comic relief in his role as King George III in Broadway's Hamilton, stopped by last night's CHARLIE ROSE to talk about the new hit musical.
"It's like a drug coming out there every night," says the actor. "it's so amazing to be -- to be just breathing in the air of the 'Hamilton' experience." Later, Groff describes watching the play "evolve throughout its off-Broadway run at The Public Theater, to the point where "the show wanted to explode out of the theater." The new musical Hamilton has book, music and lyrics by Tony and Grammy Award-winning composerLin-Manuel Miranda, who also plays the title role. The musical is directed by Thomas Kail, with choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler and music direction and orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire. Hamilton is inspired by Ron Chernow's biography "Alexander Hamilton."
