Sure, everyone knows it's a tradition for Broadway shows to field softball teams to compete in Central Park during the warmer months, but did you know the favorite sporting activity among Times Square's triple threats during the winter months is bowling?
For over twenty years, Frames in the Port Authority building has been welcoming Broadway's finest keglers as they compete in the Broadway Bowling League's Thursday late-night sessions.
In the fun video, Jeffrey "Shecky" Schecter, who plays Mendel, the rabbi's son, and George Psomas, who portrays Avram, the bookseller, in the hit Broadway revival of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, offer an inside look at the centuries-old traditions that their team, The Matzo Ballerz, follow the night before the Sabbath.
Another great tradition, not quite a century old, is preserving memorable Broadway shows on original cast albums. The new 2016 Fiddler on the Roof Broadway Cast Album, released by Broadway Records, is currently available for purchase at The Broadway Theatre. The recording is also available online on Amazon.com and on the label's website, broadwayrecords.com. The album is produced by David Lai, Ted Sperling and Louise Gund.
Take a look inside the warm up ritual for our Broadway Bowling team, The Matzo Ballerz! #FiddlerBroadway
