Jerry O'Connell stopped by today's "LIVE" to chat with Michael Strahan and co-host Taraji P. Henson about the Broadway play Living on Love, in which he will portray the role of Robert Samson opposite 4-time Grammy Award winner Renée Fleming as Raquel De Angelis, Tony Award nominee Douglas Sills as Vito De Angelis, 2-time Emmy Award nominee Anna Chlumskyas Iris Peabody, and Blake Hammond as Bruce and Scott Robertson as Eric.
Broadway's newest comedy Living on Love by two-time Tony Award winner Joe DiPietro, based on the play Peccadillo by Garson Kanin, and directed by three-time Tony Award winnerKathleen Marshall begins performances on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 and opens on Monday, April 20, 2015 at the Longacre Theatre (220 West 48th Street). The world's most famous opera singer Renée Fleming plays the world's most famous opera singer in this hilarious new screwball comedy. When her larger-than-life maestro husband (Sills) becomes enamored with the lovely young lady (Chlumsky) hired to ghostwrite his largely fictional autobiography, the diva retaliates by hiring her own handsome, young scribe (O'Connell) to chronicle her life as an opera star. Born and raised in New York City, Jerry O'Connell made his Broadway debut in 2011 in Theresa Rebeck's Seminar opposite Alan Rickman. He began his acting career at age 11 when he when he co-starred as Vern Tessio in the classic Rob Reiner film Stand By Me. After graduating with a BFA from New York University, he returned to feature film work, notably receiving critical acclaim for his role as quarterback Frank Cushman in Jerry Maguire with Tom Cruise. Additional screen credits: Scream 2; Can't Hardly Wait; Mission to Mars; Tomcats; the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced comedy Kangaroo Jack; Yours, Mine and Ours; Man About Town (with Ben Affleck); Obsessed (with Beyonce Knowles), Dimension Films' remake of the cult classic Piranha 3-D; and most recently the big screen follow up to the cult hit television series Veronica Mars. Equally prolific on television, he most recently starred as Pete Kaczmarek in "The Defenders" opposite James Belushi. He previously starred on NBC's hit drama "Crossing Jordan" for six seasons as 'Detective Woody Hoyt,' a character that also crossed-over to NBC's "Las Vegas." Other television credits include the Lifetime original movie "Nora Roberts' Midnight Bayou" opposite Faye Dunaway, "Sliders," the miniseries "The '60s" and "My Secret Identity." In 2004, O'Connell sold the screenplay for First Daughter to New Regency Films. He served as an executive producer for the film, which starred Katie Holmes and was directed byForrest Whitaker.
