Acclaimed actor Jeff Daniels stopped by this morning's "GMA" to discuss his return to Broadway in the compelling drama Blackbird and shared insight into touring with his son's band.
"If you want to be a better actor you get better with each role. So to do BLACKBIRD with Michelle Williams, it just continues the education. You can't help but get better." Watch the appearance below!
Known for such films as "Terms of Endearment," "The Purple Rose of Cairo," "Arachnophobia" and his critically acclaimed television role in "The Newsroom," Daniels has received several prestigious nominations, as well as two Emmy Awards, four Golden Globes Awards and four Screen Actors Guild Awards. Outside of screen work, Daniels has many stage credits to his name, including "God of Carnage," "The Golden Age," "Redwood Curtain," and "Fifth of July." Daniels is also a musician and songwriter, and is currently performing his music on tour.
Jeff Daniels and Michelle Williams currently star in David Harrower's Olivier Award-winning drama Blackbird. The production, directed by Joe Mantello, began previews Friday, February 5, and opens on Thursday, March 10, at the Belasco Theatre (111 West 44thStreet). Blackbird will play an 18-week limited engagement through June 12, 2016.
BLACKBIRD tells the story of Una and Ray. Fifteen years earlier they had a relationship and haven't set eyes on each other since. Now she's found him again.
BLACKBIRD premiered at the Edinburgh International Festival before moving on to London's West End where it won the Olivier Award for Best New Play in a production directed by Peter Stein. The drama was subsequently produced in New York by Manhattan Theatre Club in a production starring Jeff Daniels and Allison Pill, directed by Joe Mantello.
