Shilpa is a fashion graduate from Academy of design, Toronto. After which she competed in the Gladrags Mrs. India contest in 2004 and won the coveted title. She has also been part of the prestigious Kingfisher calender.

Apart from being a fashion designer, model and beauty queen she also writes a health and fitness column for a leading magazine.
