There was truly magic in the air at the Julie Andrews room at London's Prince Edward Theatre when the Tony-winning Genie of the Broadway production of ALADDIN, James Monroe Iglehart, sang a duet with his West End counterpart, Trevor Dion Nicholas.

Nicholas had previously served as a standby for the show-stopping song-and-dance man, but now he gets to play the role regularly and Iglehart expresses his pride in seeing how his pal has made the character his own.

The talented pair then launched into a special rendition of the musical's second act vaudevillian turn, "Somebody's Got Your Back."

Produced by Disney Theatrical Productions, the ALADDIN features music by Tony Award and eight-time Oscar winner Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Newsies, Sister Act, Little Shop of Horrors), lyrics by two-time Oscar winner Howard Ashman (Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid), three-time Tony Award and three-time Oscar winner Tim Rice (Evita, Aida) and four-time Tony Award nominee Chad Beguelin (The Wedding Singer). With a book by Beguelin, Aladdin is directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner Casey Nicholaw (The Book of Mormon, Something Rotten).

Aladdin, adapted from the Disney film and centuries-old folktales including "One Thousand and One Nights," is brought to fresh theatrical life in this bold new musical. Aladdin's journey sweeps audiences into an exotic world of daring adventure, classic comedy and timeless romance.

This new production features a magnificent score, including the five cherished songs from the Academy Award-winning soundtrack, and additional music and songs written especially for the stage.

Aladdin opened on Broadway to critical acclaim on March 20th, 2014. It quickly established itself as the biggest blockbuster in recent years, already welcoming more than 1.2 million people and breaking house records at the New Amsterdam Theatre.

Disney's West End Aladdin opened June 15, and tickets for the spectacular production are now on sale for performances up to and including February 11, 2017.

Dean John-Wilson plays the role of Aladdin alongside Jade Ewen as Jasmine in the new musical based on the classic Academy Award-winning animated film. Broadway cast member Trevor Dion Nicholas makes his London stage debut as Genie and is joined by Don Gallagher as Jafar, Peter Howe as Iago, Irvine Iqbal as the Sultan, Nathan Amzi as Babkak, Stephen Rahman-Hughes as Kassim and Rachid Sabitri as Omar.
