Long before Ben Brantley of the New York Times dubbed him as "The Sexy Hamilton," Javier Muñoz gained a legion of fans and admirers, not just for his thrilling once-a-week performance as Lin-Manuel Miranda's alternate in the smash hit musical's title role, but for his warmth and charm, both in person and on social media.
With Miranda bidding farewell to the Broadway production, Muñoz plays the Ten-Dollar Founding Father full time now, but last night he posted an apology for having to miss that evening's performance.
Click onto the post below and you'll see he received a long thread of responses, showing concern and wishing him well.
This afternoon the actor posted a very touching video response to that outpouring of love, thanking those who chose to send a message and encouraging them to keep that love going.
Apologies for missing tonight's performance. I am fine but a very personal matter prevents me from being there tonight. @HamiltonMusical
