As reported by BroadwayWorld, in response to the growing popularity of the Broadway Records recording of "What the World Needs Now Is Love," which benefits the victims of the Orlando shooting massacre, the young performers of Stagedoor Manor have filmed their own video of the 1965 Burt Bacharach and Hal David hit, which was posted on Friday morning, July 15th.
They've also initiated a challenge to raise money in the fight against hate, encouraging people to post videos of themselves singing their favorite part of "What The World Needs Now Is Love" and challenge three friends to do the same, using the hashtag #BroadwayForOrlando. For each share or challenge, Stagedoor will donate $10 to the GLBT Center of Central Florida, up to $5,000, because love is love is love.
One of the first to take up the challenge was Ben Platt, who will be following up his Washington D.C. and Off-Broadway success in the title role of DEAR EVAN HANSEN when the Benj Pasek,Justin Paul and Steven Levenson musical hits Broadway this season. (click here for his video)
More have followed, including Krysta Rodriguez, Jennifer Damiano, Laura Dreyfuss and Julia Murney. (Click here for their videos.)
One of the newest videos going live is from HAMILTON's own Javier Muñoz, who, after spending the last year and a half as Lin-Manuel Miranda's once a week alternate in the title role, has won the plum assignment of playing it full-time.
Even when only seen once a week, Muñoz has been winning over fans with his charismatic and intense performance and was dubbed by the New York Times as "the sexy Hamilton."
Here he is spreading the love for a great cause.

HAMILTON is the story of America's Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, an immigrant from the West Indies who became George Washington's right-hand man during the Revolutionary War, and was the new nation's first Treasury Secretary. Featuring a score that blends hip-hop, jazz, blues, rap, R&B and Broadway, Hamilton is the story of America then, told by America now.
The musical is produced by Jeffrey Seller, Sander Jacobs, Jill Furman and The Public Theater.
The Hamilton Original Broadway Cast Recording - recipient of the 2016 Grammy for Best Musical Theatre Album and a regular on numerous Billboard top 10 lists - is available everywhere nationwide.
HAMILTON: The Revolution, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Jeremy McCarter's book about the making of the musical, is on sale and has been a selection on The New York Times Best Seller List.
The musical celebrates its 1st anniversary on Broadway at the Richard Rodgers Theatre on August 6. A touring production begins a 21-week run in San Francisco in March 2017, followed by a 21-week engagement in Los Angeles. A London production will be mounted, also in 2017.
