VIDEO: First Look - Tom Hanks in First Official Trailer for CAPTAIN PHILLIPS

Tom Hanks will jump directly from his Tony-nominated performance in Broadway's 'Lucky Guy' to the big screen when the highly anticiapted drama CAPTAIN PHILLIPS hits theaters on October 11. Below, check out Hanks in the film's first official trailer!

Directed by Paul Greengrass, Captain Phillips is based on the story of the Maersk Alabama, the first American ship to be boarded by pirates since the early 19th century. Hanks takes on the role of the ship's brave captain.

Tom Hanks received back to back Academy Awards for his performances in Philadelphia and Forest Gump. Hanks is also known for his collaboration with film director Steven Spielberg on Saving Private Ryan and the mini-series Band of Brothers, which launched Hanks also as a successful director, producer and writer.
