We're closing in of 40 years since George Lucas' first STAR WARS movie debuted on the big screen and five episodes later the names Hans Solo, Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Darth Vader, Chewbacca, R2-D2, C-3PO, Yoda and Obi-Wan Kenobi have become a beloved part of our pop culture.
With yesterday's official release of the trailer for Episode VII, STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS, the first new installment in ten years, the force is sweeping the country again.
While Broadway has yet to see a live adaptation of Lucas' epic, there have been valiant efforts made to bring STAR WARS to the stage.
In 1996, the kids at Palos Verdes Peninsula High School in California thought STAR WARS would make an excellent musical. All it needed was some parody songs from Broadway hits like TOMMY, GODSPELL and LES MISERABLES. Here's part one:
