As reported earlier today by BroadwayWorld, a busload of Broadway performers singing Burt Bacharach and Hal David's "What The World Needs Now Is Love" traveled from New York to Philadelphia this morning to take part in a live televised performance tonight, July 27th, at the Democratic National Convention.
While the exact details of the performance had not been previously disclosed, Seth Rudetsky has posted a video on social media showing Anika Larsen, Brian Stokes Mitchell, James Wesley, Darren Criss, Richard Kind and more, plus a full chorus, rehearsing the anthem which was adopted to honor the 49 victims of the shooting at Orlando's Pulse nightclub.
Rudetsky notes, "Juli Wesley is Audra's understudy for rehearsal," no doubt referring to an appearance by Audra McDonald.
Rudetsky conceived the idea for the enormously successful Broadway for Orlando all-star recording of "What the World Needs Now is Love," benefiting the LGBT Center of Central Florida, which is now available in ten new remixes, created by DJs Dave Audé, Chris Cox, Mike Cruz and Joe Gauthreaux.
