Jeff Daniels stopped by last night's TONIGHT SHOW to talk about receiving a Tony nomination for role in Broadway's BLACKBIRD. "It's great," says the actor of receiving the recognition, but adds, "when you work that hard and you hear them read off the names, you're like, 'I better hear my name!" Watch the appearance below!

Daniels was recently nominated for a Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Play for his role as Ray in BLACKBIRD. The actor won the Emmy Award for Best Actor as Will McAvoy in THE NEWSROOM. In 2009, he earned a Tony nomination for Best Actor in GOD OF CARNAGE. He won the Obie Award for Johnny Got His Gun and a Drama Desk Award for Fifth of July.

Daniels has written 16 plays, including Guest Artist and Across the Way. His films include The Martian, Steve Jobs, The Squid and the Whale, The Purple Rose of Cairo and Terms of Endearment. He has recorded seven albums of original material, including Never Gone Before.

The Olivier Award-winning drama Blackbird, directed by Joe Mantello, began previews Friday, February 5, and opened on Thursday, March 10, at the Belasco Theatre (111 West 44thStreet). Blackbird will play an 18-week limited engagement through June 12, 2016.

BLACKBIRD tells the story of Una and Ray. Fifteen years earlier they had a relationship and haven't set eyes on each other since. Now she's found him again.
