"I've been honored in my home town of Los Angeles on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame," says ALLEGIANCE star George Takei. "They put that honor on the sidewalk... where the whole world can trample over my good name. Here in New York, with my good name, you can take in the glory of the city."
The 78-year-old actor/activist, now making his Broadway debut in a musical inspired by his childhood experiences in a Japanese internment camp, was recently honored with his name gracing one of New York's double-decker tour buses.
While basking in the splendor of the city, Takei explains how his passion for activism came when reading American history books and finding nothing about the camps where the United States government imprisoned Americans of Japanese descent during World War II.
