Final performances of beloved Broadway productions are always joyful experiences as fans, many of whom have seem the show multiple times, gather to cheer on the company and say goodbye in a grand fashion.
A GENTLEMAN'S GUIDE TO LOVE AND MURDER, the 2014 Tony Award-winning Best Musical, was especially admired by lovers of clever, literate musicals that exercise the mind more than dazzle the eye.
Last night, playgoers indulged one final time in the Edwardian tale of Monty Navarro, a distant heir to a family fortune who, in between balancing lady loves, sets out to jump the line of succession by killing off the undeserving scoundrels ahead of him.
Tony Award-winning star, Jefferson Mays, who played every member of the ill-fated D'Ysquith family, died more than 6,000 times during the show's 900+ performance run. In a video posted on the musical's official Facebook page, the versatile star tells happy audience members cheering the company's final curtain call that "our gorgeous touring production has achieved popular and critical success as it continues to slay audiences and D'Ysquiths across this great country,"
