Designer Celia Birtwell is teaming up with Uniqlo for a capsule collection.
The 71-year-old's signature floral prints will adorn T-shirts, vests, cropped palazzo pants and bags. The collection will drop on March 21, revealed WWD .
Birtwell has had successful collaborations in the past with Topshop (2006) John Lewis, Millets and Boots.
Following in the footsteps of recent Uniqlo collaborators Laura Ashley, Orla Kiely and Lulu Guinness, Birtwell called the retailer "terribly clever", adding how: "You can't misunderstand their clothing, and the atmosphere in Uniqlo shops is very peaceful."
Yuki Katsuta, senior vice president at Fast Retailing Group, and head of Uniqlo Research and Design, commented via e-mail to WWD: "We are very pleased with the success of the other collaborations with British designers so far. Each designer has brought something different to our lines of clothing, and as a result of our collaborations Uniqlo has increased its appeal with customers globally."
The ad campaign features British model Portia Freeman, but no other information on it's roll out is available at this time.
