TinyRhino is UglyRhino's take on the ten-minute play evening. Each month we commission six short plays each including the same five dramatic elements. On the night of the performance, these elements are revealed to the audience as cues to drink. That's right: we've created a theatrical drinking game!

July’s installment of TinyRhino will feature new work by Kendra Levin (Double Sophia, selected for the Cherry Lane Mentor Project), Deen (Public Theater’s Emerging Writers Group), Yontan Sallmander (Stockholm Syndrome, 2011 NYU Festival of New Works official selection) Justin Shipley (EROTICA with FullStop Collective), Solomon Strul (Beyond the Trees), and Tatiana Suarez-Pico (Old Vic's 2013 US/UK TS Eliot Exchange finalist for Profit), directed by Matt Crowley (Muscle & Body Mag with Hearth Gods), Tracy Cameron Francis (The Maids with Curious Frog Theatre Company), Katie Lupica (Portrait and a Dream, 2011 FringeNYC), Rachel Silverman (Associate Producer of 13P), Calla Videt (What If… at Culture Project’s Women Center Stage Festival), and Matthew Wise (UglyRhino Associate Artist).

The dramatic elements this month will include: someone trips and falls, someone gives the finger, someone does an imitation of a famous person, someone comments on the temperature in the room, and someone explains their dream. Each TinyRhino features live jazz music, drink specials, special drink giveaways, and a cocktail hour following the performance.

This month’s installment of TinyRhino will be on Monday, July 16 at 8pm at the Brooklyn Lyceum (227 4th Avenue at Union Street, Brooklyn). Tickets are $10 at the door, which includes 1 free beer.

TINYRHINO originally premiered in July 2011, and has returned to packed audiences and sold-out crowds since November. This monthly event showcases and supports the work of up-and-coming playwrights, directors, and actors by presenting brand new work each month. TinyRhino has featured young theater artists from The Flea's Bats, Samuel French OOB Festival winners, The Public Theater's Emerging Writers Group and Drama League Directing fellows, just to name a few.

UGLYRHINO is a new way to experience theater. Expanding on our high quality productions, we integrate dynamic arts programming ranging from emerging musicians to warehouse parties. UglyRhino curates affordable evenings with a social atmosphere that capture the inimitable spirit of Brooklyn.
