UPDATE: Ratings for FOX's ROCKY HORROR Drop 60% from 'Grease Live'

UPDATE: As more solid ratings begin to come in, Deadline reports that FOX ROCKY HORROR delivered a 1.7/6 rating among adults 18-49, representing a 60% drop in the demographic from what the network's GREASE LIVE had delivered back in January. The pre-recorded musical placed third among the 18-49's in the 8 PM time period.

In viewers, the Laverne Cox-led movie delivered an audience of 4.95 million, down 59% from Grease Live. The show was not able to command the top spot as the most watched show in its time period - ABC' Grey's Anatomy (2.1/8) and NBC's Chicago Med (1.2/4) had 8.06 million and 6.62 million viewers in their respective 8 PM and 9 PM slots.

As previously noted, Deadline contends that comparing 'Rocky Horror' to 'Grease Live' is not entirely a fair comparison, as one broadcast aired live, while the other was filmed in advance. 'Rocky Horror also competed against Thursday Night Football on CBS and the National League Baseball Championship, which aired on FOX Sports.

10:15am/et: According to Deadline, early ratings for FOX's reimagining of THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW indicate a steep decline from the network's live January broadcast of GREASE LIVE. (Read BWW's ROCKY HORROR review here!)

In metered market results, the pre-recorded musical, which aired from 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm/ET, delivered a 3.4/5 rating. The numbers mark a 54% decline in the early results from what Grease Live! hit on January 31st. The site notes that it is not entirely a fair comparison, as one broadcast aired live, while the other was filmed in advance.

FOX's 3-hour adaptation of Grease Live! scored a healthy 4.3/13 rating and 12.19 million viewers. The numbers in the all-important Adults 18-49 demographic were comparable to NBC's December 5, 2013 airing of The Sound Of Music Live!, the very first live TV musical to be presented by a network.

In positive news, FOX's ROCKY HORROR will most likely be the No. 1 non-sports show of a Thursday night that featured a host of sports programs, including the Chicago Cubs beating the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 5 of the National League Championship series. Topping the night was CBS's Thursday Night Football, which featured the Green Bay Packers against the Chicago Bears.
