Bin Laden: The One Man Show tells the story of the world's most notorious terrorist up until 9/11 from his point of view and asks audiences to listen. The twist? Bin Laden is 26 years old, White British and charming as cream teas in summer. RADA trained rising star Sam Redway plays the 21st Century's most notorious terrorist. But how much do we really know about Bin Laden, can an audience learn to empathise with a monster?
Islamist extremist attacks on the West are on the rise, international security is tenser than ever and with the American Presidential election looming Knaïve Theatre seek to understand the other side of the Terrorist narrative. They provoke and facilitate an important and timely debate around the conflicts in the Middle-East and the current war on terror. They ask audiences to re-examine their own information and prejudices from a naïve perspective, as the company have.
Knaïve Theatre are a new theatre company; Sam Redway and Tyrrell Jones - an award-winning Birkbeck MFA Directing Graduate. They are the first people to risk telling this story in so much detail and without passing any judgement. It has already had success at Edinburgh Fringe, Denmark and London. They are meeting local theatres, producers and artists while in the USA. They hope to programme a full USA tour in 2017/18.
