Manhattan Theatre Club (Lynne Meadow, Artistic Director; Barry Grove, Executive Producer) is pleased to announce that Tyne Daly and John Slattery will join Cynthia Nixon in the theatre's world premiere production of Rabbit Hole, written by David Lindsay-Abaire, and directed by Tony Award-winner Daniel Sullivan (Proof, Sight Unseen, Brooklyn Boy) at the Biltmore Theatre (261 West 47th Street).
Rabbit Hole will open February 2, 2006. Previews begin January 12, 2006. Additional casting will be announced soon.
Becca (Cynthia Nixon) and Howie Corbett (John Slattery) have everything a family could want, until the day their world is turned upside down. In the aftermath of a life-shattering accident, the couple finds itself drifting perilously apart. Rabbit Hole charts their bittersweet search for comfort in the darkest of places and for a path that will lead them back up into the light of day.
Tyne Daly will play the role of Nat, Becca's mother. Daly won a 1990 Tony Award® for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical for Gypsy, and will be making her first Broadway appearance since The Seagull in 1992. Daly has won six Emmy Awards®, including four for "Cagney & Lacey" and most recently in 2003 for Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for "Judging Amy".
John Slattery has appeared on Broadway in Betrayal and Laughter on the 23rd Floor, and has appeared in five other MTC productions, including Three Days of Rain in 1997. His recent television credits include the critically acclaimed series, "Jack and Bobby". Other TV credits include: "A Woman of Independent Means" opposite Sally Field, "Ed," "Will & Grace" and "Sex and the City". His film credits include City Hall, Eraser, Where's Marlow?, Traffic, Bad Company and Mona Lisa Smile.
Cynthia Nixon, who won a 2004 Emmy Award® for Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her performance as Miranda Hobbes on HBO's "Sex and the City," will be making her first Broadway appearance since The Women in 2001.
The play will mark the Broadway debut of playwright David Lindsay-Abaire, who has been represented at MTC with productions of Fuddy Meers, Wonder of the World and Kimberly Akimbo.
