Ventriloquist Jay Johnson and Bob, stars of the new Broadway show, Jay Johnson: The Two and Only!, have been selected by The League of Women Voters of the City of New York to deliver a major city-wide Register to Vote and Get Out The Vote public service campaign. "Bob and I are honored to have been chosen by such a fine organization to use our collective voices in getting the word out," says Mr. Johnson.

Several :30 and :15 second television PSA¹s titled "Don¹t Lose Your Voice - Vote!" were created by the advertising firm Serino Coyne, featuring the famed ventriloquist and his most famous partner, Bob. The spots will air on local television stations throughout New York City beginning mid-September and continuing through Election Day, November 7th.

Jay Johnson, best known for playing the schizophrenic role of "Chuck and Bob" on the groundbreaking television comedy, "Soap," is widely regarded as one of the world¹s great living ventriloquists. With his side-kick Bob, Johnson follows in the footsteps of such performers as Jules Vernon, Fred Russell (and Coster Joe), The Great Lester (and Frank Byron, Jr.), Edgar Bergen (and Charlie McCarthy) and Paul Winchell, who have all helped to define ventriloquism as a bonafide modern art form.

The League of Women Voters of the City of New York is a nonpartisan organization whose purpose is to promote informed and active citizen participation in government. It neither supports nor opposes candidates or political parties. Membership is open to all women and men who subscribe to its purpose. The League is supported by membership dues and contributions from public-spirited individuals, businesses and organizations.
