Kathleen Turner, who received a Tony nomination for her work as Martha in the recent revival of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, will star opposite theatre veteran Matthew Cowles in a reading of Samuel Beckett's absurdist classic Happy Days.
Presented as part of the Food for Thought lunchtime theatre series, the reading, directed by Anthony Marselis, will be presented at the Players Club (16 Gramercy Park South) on November 20th.
In Happy Days, housewife Winnie cheerfully chatters on about her life--despite the fact that she is buried up to the neck in sand.
Turner, who received her first Tony nomination for her performance in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, has also been seen on Broadway in The Graduate and Indiscretions. The War of the Roses, Body Heat, The Accidental Tourist and Peggy Sue Got Married are among her many film credits. Cowles has appeared on Broadway in Sweet Bird of Youth, The Time of Your Life and Malcolm. He has been seen on TV in "Oz" and "All My Children."
