"A tantalizing glimpse behind the closed doors and unspoken secrets of Edwardian England," Tryst, a
new play by Karoline Leach starring Maxwell Caulfield and Amelia
Campbell will open Thursday, April 6th (7PM) at Off-Broadway's
Promenade Theatre (Broadway at 76th Street).
Produced by
Morton Wolkowitz and Barbara Freitag the play will be directed by Joe
Brancato with preview performances slated to begin Tuesday, March 21st
at 7PM.
"Part romance and part psychological thriller
, Tryst tells
the story of how George Love, a handsome conman who woos love-starved
women, meets Adelaide Pinchon, a desperate woman, who dreams beyond her
mundane world at the local millinery store. Mr. Love has a history
of illicit affairs, but after meeting the fantasizing shop-girl ----
there is a twist of fate," according to press notes.
Maxwell Caulfield has been featured in the Broadway production of
An Inspector Calls, the acclaimed off-Broadway productions of
Entertaining Mr. Sloane, My Night with Reg and
Salonica as well as the touring productions of
The Elephant Man and
Sleuth. In addition to his numerous film credits, which include
Grease 2, The Boys Next Door and
The Real Blonde, he has been seen in television roles on such hit series as "Dynasty" and "The Colbys."
The Herbal Bed, Translations, and
A Small Family Business are just some of
Amelia Campbell's Broadway stage credits; she was also nominated for a Tony Award for her work in
Our Country's Good. She has appeared in the Off-Broadway productions of
The Exonerated and
Love, Janis. Her movie credits include over ten feature films including
Malcolm X, The Paper, Lorenzo's Oil and
Single White Female. Campbell's many television appearances include "Law & Order," and "Homicide," as well as her portrayal of Margaret Truman in HBO's "Truman."
Tryst will feature scenery designed by
David Korins, lighting designed by Jeff Nellis, costumes designed by Alejo Vietti and sound designed by Johnna Doty.
The production will play the following performance schedule:
Tuesdays at 7PM and Wednesday through Saturday evenings at 8PM with
matinees on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday at 3PM. Tickets range in
price from $65 to $45. Parents should be warned there is nudity in the
production and is not appropriate for teenagers under 17 years of
