Bette Midler recently shared her strong views on Ariana Grande's performance on Sunday night's AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS, broadcast live from LA's Nokia Theatre.
Grande responded on Twitter today by saying, "Bette was always a feminist who stood for women being able to do whatever the F they wanted without judgment! not sure where that Bette went but I WANT THAT sexy mermaid back!!! always a fan no matter what my love," along with another Tweet reading, "and I will still quote first wives club every single day of my life lmao".
Now Midler has called a truce by Tweeting:
About my screed on @ArianaGrande , all I can say is, "Spoken like a reformed old whore! She does have a beautiful voice, on a couch or off."

Midler, who was not a fan of Grande's sheer costume or undulating performance at the AMAs previously said, "It's always surprising to see someone like Ariana Grande with that silly high voice, a very wholesome voice, slithering around on a couch looking so ridiculous. I mean, it's silly beyond belief and I don't know who's telling her to do it." She continued: "I wish they'd stop. But it's not my business, I'm not her mother. Or her manager. Maybe they tell them that's what you've got to do. Sex sells. Sex has always sold."
Grande kicked off her career in the Broadway musical '13' before landing the role of 'Cat Valentine' in Nickelodeon's TV series VICTORIOUS in 2009. She went on to star in her own spinoff, Sam & Cat, and eventually signed a contract with Republic Records. Grande's debut album, Yours Truly, premiered at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in 2013. Her second album, My Everything, was released this year.
Midler recently released her first studio album in eight years, 'It's the Girls,' featuring songs from female groups who have had the greatest influence on her throughout her career. The album dropped on Nov. 4 via Warner Bros. Records Covering seven decades of music beginning with the 1930's. Midler finished her Broadway run of I'LL EAT YOU LAST this spring, starring as the legendary Hollywood agent Mengers in her first Broadway appearance in almost 40 years. Written by John Logan, I'LL EAT YOU LAST was directed on Broadway by Joe Mantello.
