Traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall to Visit Intrepid Museum 11/8-20

The Dignity Memorial® Vietnam Wall, a traveling, three-quarter scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., will be on display for the first time ever in Manhattan when it opens to the public at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum from November 8 to 20, 2011. The Wall will be displayed on Intrepid's Pier 86 and be open 24 hours a day. Admission is free of charge.

The Dignity Memorial® Vietnam Wall stands eight feet tall and stretches 240 feet long. It is inscribed with the names of more than 58,000 Americans who died in combat or are currently listed as missing in Vietnam. Since its inception in 1990, the traveling monument has been displayed in more than 200 cities across the country, allowing millions of visitors to experience the healing power of the memorial.

The Wall has become a place of healing and remembrance for all Americans - representing in equal measures the loss associated with the Vietnam War era, as well as the heroism, courage, and bravery of the soldiers who fought. It brings healing to Veterans, awareness to younger generations and contemplation to all who gaze into its reflective surface.

The Museum will also offer special events and programming centered on the Wall, veterans and the history of the Vietnam War era, including a special Veterans Day Ceremony. Check www.intrepidmuseum.org for up to the minute details.
